Historic Buildings on Apliu Street

As one of the older districts in Hong Kong the area on and around Apliu Street hosts some of the more interesting historic buildings.

If you first arrive following the instructions on reach apliu street via MTR then as soon as you reach street level you will find the rounded corner buildings show the the typical style of the 1960's in Hong Kong when the area was more prosperous.  For those new to Hong Kong check out the guide to the MTR first.

Walk south beyond the flea market until you reach the intersection with Shep Kip Mei street to find more examples of this style.

For an even older style at number 96 now housing Maxington Textile limited is a building of even older style with pillars on the sidewalk supporting the overhanging building overhead.  This traditional style of "Tong Lau", or shop house, used to be seen all over the area but now only a few remain.

See the sightseeing page for details of historic buildings further afield in the area.

Flea market and Piece Goods

The Electronics Flea Market and the Piece goods shops are the most famous parts of Aplui Street, but this important street has a long history and even now is home to a vibrant community.

Look out for the photography equipment shops, and spend some time in the public sitting out areas.

Finally don't miss all the nearby attractions.
